One Hundred Rubies Web Application Design

“One Hundred Rubies” is a children’s poem in Farsi that is about pomegranate seeds. Iranian cuisine incorporates a lot of pomegranate derivatives, hence the name choice for this imaginary restaurant. Needless to say the theme of the restaurant would be pomegranate-based dishes and drinks.

Appetizers would be:

  • Pomogranate Aush
  • Pomogranate Slaw

Entrees would be:

  • Fesenjoon Stew
  • Butternut Squash, Walnut and Pomogranate Braise
  • Sour Kabab

Desert would be:

• Pomogranate Yogurt Parfait

And finally drinks would be the following:

  • Pomogranate Tea

  • Adriana is an immigrant from Mexico
  • She is a User Interface Designer and works in acompany in downtown Pittsburgh

  • Leo is a software developer in a tech startup in Pittsburgh
  • He has a couple Iranian coworkers and have tried Iranian food before
  • “Why isn’t there an Iranian restaurant in Pittsburgh?”

Denzel Davis (60) – The Banker

  • Denzel works at PNC bank
  • For lunch he usually goes to
  • a nearby burger or subs place but he is getting tired of the fast food
  • He would like to have more options for lunch that are fast and delicious

    • Read information about their food and its origin while they are waiting

The next step was to come up with some wireframes. Based on the sitemap, there were four main parts to the navigation bar: Our Menu, About Us, Conact Us and Your Order. Below you can see the mock up for “Our Menu” page:

And here you can see the high-fidelity prototype for the wireframe on the left. The color theme was chosen based on the mood board earlier:

The following pages cover the order process flow. The idea was to use pomegranate seeds as the different pieces of the order and when the seeds come together to form a whole pomegranate, it shows the order process is complete and the order has been delivered.
